Machine Learning for Antimicrobial Resistance

Biological datasets amenable to applied machine learning are more available today than ever before, yet they lack adequate representation in the Data-for-Good community. Here we present a work in progress case study performing analysis on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) using standard ensemble machine learning techniques and note the successes and pitfalls such work entails. Broadly, applied mac...

Hemolytik: a database of experimentally determined hemolytic and non-hemolytic peptides

Hemolytik (http://crdd.osdd.net/raghava/hemolytik/) is a manually curated database of experimentally determined hemolytic and non-hemolytic peptides. Data were compiled from a large number of published research articles and various databases like Antimicrobial Peptide Database, Collection of Anti-microbial Peptides, Dragon Antimicrobial Peptide Database and Swiss-Prot. The current release of He...

Antimicrobial Peptides Derived from Milk: A Review

Milk proteins provide a natural source of bioactive peptides with potential health benefits and applications in the food industry. The release of these peptides from milk proteins is achieved either by hydrolysis using digestive proteases or by lactic acid bacteria fermentation. Peptides, particularly those derived from milk proteins, can exert a wide range of nutritional, functional and biolog...

antimicrobial peptides (amps)

antimicrobial peptides (amps) are extensive group of molecules that produced by variety tissues of invertebrate, plants, and animal species which play an important role in their immunity response. amps have different classifications such as; biosynthetic machines, biological sources, biological functions, molecular properties, covalent bonding patterns, three dimensional structures, and molecul...

Antimicrobial Peptides

The rapid increase in drug-resistant infections has presented a serious challenge to antimicrobial therapies. The failure of the most potent antibiotics to kill "superbugs" emphasizes the urgent need to develop other control agents. Here we review the history and new development of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), a growing class of natural and synthetic peptides with a wide spectrum of targets i...
